Kia Sportage review (2022) front view, driving

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

Potential to be a nice quality car, but totally ruined by the "safety systems" installed and the pointless and laughable keyless entry systems that serves no purpose at all, it is only a hindrance. Bought 2x Kia's in April'24, horrible driving/ownership experience, can't wait to get rid of them, I won't be buying Kia again.

How reliable do you find the car?

Terrible inclusion of so-called safety features that make the car a death trap. You can disable them, hidden options in the car setup manual, but you have to disable them every time you start the car, adding 3-4 minutes to the journey before you set off. The car does not remember your selections when you've switched the engine off. The only way round this is to install an expensive cable loom modification available from eBay (USA). Unfortunately, we bought a brand new Kia Niro (PHEV) and a Sportage at the same time! They've both got these design faults and both require expensive modifications to circumvent the car setup menu features. We've had both cars less than 3 months and we both can't wait to get rid of them, they are both death traps and so irritating to drive. Not a pleasurable experience at all. We'd never buy Kia again!

Keyless entry! What is the benefit? The system makes your car constantly vulnerable to theft. A would be thief can legally buy a piece kit on amazon.co.uk, discretely clone your key and drive off with your car with ease. The only way to protect yourself, is to keep your key in a Faraday pouch whilst out'n'about and keep all keys in a Faraday case/box whilst the cars are parked-up at home. The Faraday pouch is like having to carry an extra bulky purse/wallet on you at all times!,Then, when you are in the car driving, where do you put your keys whilst you're driving!!! There's nowhere to put your keys, so you have to throw them in the foot-well of the passenger seat or keep them on the passenger seat. Idiotic idea, that serves no purpose, only adds anxiety to the owners as your car is so vulnerable to theft.
