Lada Samara Hatchback 1.3 S 5d (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Pitiful. Overall a false economy at any price. Cannot even give it way.
Costs
Car was overpriced and was not cheap motoring in the end. Many mechanical and electrical items failed. Parts not cheap.

On the road
Driving
Heavy steering. Engine underpowered. Gearbox and clutch rough/unreliable.
Performance
Embarrassing especially on hills. But could do 90mph plus on some motorways. But brakes are so horrible who would want to risk it?

Living with it
Reliability
Shameful. Had hoped that this would be a redeeming plus point but no such luck.
Image
Sad. Minus points really. Not for the sensitive - even school kids laugh!
Comfort
Be afraid! Seats and general controls are very uncomfortable on longer journeys. Road/engine/wind noise bad. Gauges and lighting not good. Very good heater.

Security and Service
Security
Does it matter? Once left door open and keys in ignition overnight and even vandals couldn't be bothered (perhaps they thought it was already damaged).
Service
Used to get a news magazine but all ended when the importers/dealers shut up shop.
