Lamborghini Urus verdict

Should you buy one?
The Lamborghini Urus comes highly recommended. It’s one of the fastest SUVs in the world, and it’s hard not to love it just for that. For those traditionalists who bemoan Lamborghini’s decision to build it, we would say that it has all the performance and road presence you’d expect from a Lamborghini, but with room for all the family too.
The Urus is unique on the market right now for offering this towering performance in such a comfortable and practical package. For this reason alone, it’s worth getting the nod from us. It has the looks of a supercar wrapped up in the bodyshell of an SUV, and we can see why any existing Lamborghini owner would choose one for family duties. Though perhaps a touch more brash than the Ferrari Purosangue, the Urus is a much more suitable family car.
Lamborghini owners that need more space love it, and it’s brought in a whole raft of new buyers to the iconic and truly unique Italian marque. Although you can buy a Bentley Bentayga or Aston Martin DBX to do largely the same job, the Lamborghini just seems to do it with more attitude and speed.
The hybrid system has only improved it further, elevating performance while bringing small improvements to the running costs. Though the latter is unlikely to be a consideration when buying a Lamborghini, it makes it a more usable package and is a supremely well-modulated hybrid system that works as well at a cruise as it does when being absolutely thrashed. Lamborghini has managed to make a hybrid that doesn’t take away from this car’s character.
What we like
We love how usable the Urus is. It might look rather OTT but beneath that wild styling is a supremely spacious and comfortable car. The performance is exceptional and the handling is outstanding considering its size and weight. We love the new hybrid system, too, preferring it to the previous petrol car.
What we don’t like
The rather excessive styling won’t suit everyone and the interior takes time to negotiate. It’s also hugely expensive to buy and the ride at low speeds isn’t great which is where those driving an Urus will likely spend most of their time.
