Lancia Thema 2.0 16V LE 4d Auto (1993/L) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Since Lancia pulled out of RHD market it has forced the values through the floor so it's a lot of car for the money, in 1993 my Thema cost £24,000 I bought it last year in good 1 owner condition with 78,000 miles from new for £900.
Costs
Generally good but some Series 3 parts such as exhaust down pipe which incorporates the exhaust manifold is listed at £850, with special offers through Fiat paid £250.

On the road
Driving
For a large saloon it handles extremely well.
Performance
With the variable inlet system the BHP is now up by 35 on the old 16v to a 150bhp and can really pick up its skirts an fly if needed & with 31.5mph per 1000rpm the auto is a great long distance tourer.

Living with it
Reliability
Overall very good. Ignore service recommendation and change cambelt at 18,000 miles WITHOUT FAIL or risk it breaking and a bill of £1000 for an engine rebuild. Happened on my previous Thema with same spec as this one.
Image
To those who know no better it's terrible but to Lancisti it is very good.
Comfort
Exceedingly comfortable with climate control A/C, Alcantara upholstery, electric everything.

Security and Service
Security
Central locking but not worth pinching.
Service
Use a Lancia specialist for work, Fiat/Lancia parts support very good.
