Land Rover Discovery 300 Tdi ES 5d (1996/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
They aren't cheap, but on the other hand they hold their value well, so although you may have to pay a lot, you'll get a lot back when you sell.
Costs
Not cheap to run. Fuel costs are high, and you can't skimp on the maintenance.

On the road
Driving
Wonderful! Great driving position, you can see ahead and you fell safe and in control of the situation. And if the worst happens, they are very tough!
Performance
300 Tdi really needs another 20bhp or so. They are sluggish, even comapred to other diesels.

Living with it
Reliability
If maintained properly, I think they're very reliable.
Image
Trendy now, but I've had several and always liked them.
Comfort
The Disco and ES in particular, and really comfy. Bags of room.

Security and Service
Security
Not the best. Simple, old-fashioned locks, although the newer models have immobilisers.
Service
Dealigns with LR & L dealers have always been good.
