Early 200 TDi unit was crude but the later 300 TDi is much more refined. There’s also a 2.0 four-cylinder petrol and a V8 (many of which have been converted to LPG to reduce fuel costs). All demand regular servicing.
Needs plenty of space to park and will roll about on corners, but this is a real off-roader (and very capable). Ride quality is generally smooth and quiet, four-wheel-drive system is permanent.
