What does this car say about you?

A stable person who isn't in a hurry to get anywhere but likes to go everywhere.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

They love it - but then, they don't have to pay good money to keep it on the road or support the franchised dealership's pension fund.

Would you buy this car again and why?

No. Far too many very expensive faults.

What are you likely to buy next?

Probably a Honda CR-V which is apparently a very reliable car.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

Very comfortable with infinitely adjustable electrically operated seat adjustment. Steering positive. Plods along all day at 70mph without missing a beat.

    What's it like to park?

Rear parking sensors are very useful. Good turning circle - unlike the Discovery 1 range - making parking in tight spaces quite easy once you've got used to the size of the car.

  • Living with it

    1 out of 5 1.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

Oh yes. Rear suspension collapsed. Needed new compressor, air springs and ride height sensors. £2500-ish to replace. Leaking windscreen. Leaking sunroofs. Rear door lock replaced. Rear passenger door lock replaced.

What's most practical about your car?

Big wide boots giving excellent road holding and off-road ability. I use mine for pulling a boat up a beach. Never been stuck.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

    Auto box.
