Land Rover Discovery (1998 - 2004) 2.5 Td5 GS 5d (5 Seat) Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Always fancied a discovery 2 so when I has the option to buy one with a full history and one owner took the plunge. The Td5 engine isn't going to move you fast but it's a big comfortable car with a hudge boot and commanding driving position.Just make sure that the chassis isn't badly corroded and it's got lots of history I get 31mpg sticking to 55mph and everything works ,not bad considering it's 16 years old . Starts first time even when it's minus 5 and glow light takes about 10 seconds to go out . Land Rover parts are expensive don't forget even though it's old you pay for that badge.
How reliable do you find the car?
My disco is almost showroom condition ,The only major issue is rust,I'm the 2nd owner and it has a full history, but original owner had a boat and it's been into the sea quite a bit so has accelerated rusting on the chassis, cost me £500 to fixDoes the car do everything you expected it to do?
I'd always fancied a discovery 2 as I actually prefer the styling over discovery 3 . The Td5 engine has loads of pulling power it's just a shame it hasn't got a six speed gearbox I'm quite happy to sit at 55-60 mph at 2200 revs ,it's really a quite cruiser on the motorway and really comfortableAbout their car
