Land Rover Freelander (2006 - 2014) 2.2 Td4 HSE 5d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
Purchased after owning a Freelander 1 TD4 which I loved, but wanted an automatic. I like a big car for comfort, towing my caravan and hauling stuff around in. This car has been fantastic. Its quiet and comfortable on long journeys, easy to park and manoeuvre around town and an amazing towcar; I hardly notice my caravan is hitched up.
It's never really let me down, just had to replace a crankshaft sensor last year (£32 from Europarts) and I put new rear dampers on after one was leaking the year before. I do all my own servicing and change the oil every six months and oil and all filters every twelve. Parts are cheap if you stay away from Land Rover. Oh, had to put in new rear door actuator earlier this year when the remote wouldn't lock it from the outside. A common fault.
I average 30 m.p.g pretty much all the time, and do a mixture of town and longer runs. I put on a set of Goodyear Wranglers all round after buying it, and four years later they still have 3 mm of grip!
I absolutely love this car, and it's astonishing reliability record is a contrast to the new Discovery Sport with the hopeless Ingenium engine. I really can't see me parting with it until the wheels fall off.
