Land Rover Freelander (2006 - 2014) 3.2 i6 HSE 5d Auto Owner Review

In their own words
Surprised me on the fuel economy due to all the bad reviews and extensive reports on how much fuel they drink! It's a big displacement engine, so not designed to be reved high... If driven sensibly and as it was intended, smoothly, it will do a genuine (fill up/reset trip/fill up) 27 MPG in built up areas. 35-40 MPG on motorways sitting at 70mph. Then petrol is cheaper at the pump than diesel... To sum up, QUIET, SMOOTH, MORE RELIABLE (no DPF/EGR!), HSE SPEC STANDARD, CHEAPER TO BUY OFF THE FORECOURT, QUICK OFF THE MARK IF NEEDED! Tax is a consideration in the UK but if you want to get away from a Diesel burner, it's worth it.... 20-40 MPG REALLY DEPENDS ON DRIVING STYLE £570 TAX BRACKET But modern used diesels are OK up to about 60,000m.... then due to the recycling of exhaust gasses/plastic manifolds/blocked DPFs they WILL cost you more in servicing bills! Makes perfect sense to buy a used petrol car, when you work out the long term costs involved
How reliable do you find the car?
Bought it with a few running gear problems, was cheap enough to buy the car so spent money to get it all sorted.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
