Land Rover Range Rover (2013 - 2021) 4.4 SDV8 Vogue SE 4d Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Have owned all models of Range Rovers since the Series 1 back in 1983, with three Discoveries in the 1990s and have been delighted with all of them, notwithstanding that the earlier models were not exactly trouble free, however none has been as unreliable as my Porsche Boxster! The decision to buy my latest model was a very difficult one as it was replacing a 2003 Range Rover 3.00 Vogue which had done 150K miles with remarkably few problems, (and which still sold for over £7,000). The price was significantly more in real terms and I hesitated for two years, during which I looked at many alternatives including The BMW X5, Audi Q7 and the Mercedes,(after my problems with the Boxster, I wouldn't even consider a Cayenne with its lousy short guarantee) however none in my opinion came close to a Range Rover. The only one that did come close was the Volvo XC90 but its off road ability was not in the same league, although I would recommend this above all the previous models if you can't afford a Range Rover. Finally I bit the bullet and emptied the bank account and bought a pre owned 4.4 SE model. 12 months later (and after putting on a lot of miles), I am delighted with my decision. Put quite simply, if money was no object, I still can't think of any car I would change this for. Its quality, design, comfort and performance, both on and off road are amazing. My first Range Rover 1 3.5l petrol model could drop to 13 mpg on its motorway trip up to Scotland and I was delighted when my Series 2 Diesel achieved 24mpg. My last 2003, - brilliant reliable workhorse for 11 years did 28mpg and could do 30 mpg on a careful long run, however this latest model, even with its big 4.4 V8 engine regularly achieve 35 mpg but can achieve 42 mpg on a long run, (Believe the 3l model can approach 50!) The driving experience is unique. It does go off road, but does not do extreme work! and unlike the Cayenne or the Touareg, it docent throw a fit when it sees a puddle. As I keep my cars a long time, it will be many years before I buy a replacement. I only hope the price does not rise to a completely unaffordable level, as for the time being, I cannot think of any case that could replace my wonderful Range Rover. In saying this, there is after all one possible alternative, the new Land Rover Discovery!
