Land Rover Range Rover 3.5 Vogue 4d Auto (1988/E) Owner Review

Economy
Value
I paid £450 for mine from a friend with a P38, who never used this one anymore. Will sell for much more with no problems.
Costs
Fitted an LPG kit, but I still spend on average £60 a week on fuel, due to it only doing about 12-14mpg. Replaced springs and shocks all round with heavy duty options, BFGoodrich MT tyres, steel wheels and steering guard.

On the road
Driving
Comfortable driving position, you can see everything that'd going on around you thanks to it being a greenhouse on wheels.
Performance
Surprisingly good acceleration for a 2 ton motor, happily cruises at 85 on the motorway, but I rarely push it much more.

Living with it
Reliability
The V8 gets VERY hot on long journeys, but I might have a little hole in the radiator that I haven't had time to investigate yet. Engine coolant level probe doesn't work most of the time.
Image
This is THE classic 4x4. I'm only 19, so I get some odd looks driving this thing about, but I love it anyway. However, running costs are getting ahead of me, so I'm downsizing to an MG ZS in the next month. :-(
Comfort
This is the most comfortable car I've ever been in. Big leather seats (electrically operated), armrests. Very comfortable offroad as well. Acres of space for luggage too.

Security and Service
Security
Central locking, that's about it. I had an immobiliser, but disconnected it because it kept messing around.
Service
Helpful at dealership in classic parts.
