Land Rover Range Rover 3.9 Vogue SE 4d Auto (1989/G) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Got mine with an LPG conversion and a lot of change from two grand.
Costs
Cheaper than you think.

On the road
Driving
Doesn't corner like a Ferrari but then a 2.5 tonne 4x4 isn't expected to. It does however go over speed bumps as if they aren't even there.
Performance
Engine is tuned for torque rather than power so it "only" does 183bhp but it will still do 0-60 in ten point something and a top speed around 120. Off road (or on bad or icy roads) is where it sets the gold standard.

Living with it
Reliability
It's very hard to break this car. Things do fail from time to time but the car can usually just keep on going.
Image
An ultimate classic.
Comfort
Luxurious but primitive (e.g. the air-con is either ice cold, searing hot or off) but very very comfortable.

Security and Service
Security
This one has a Thatcham cat 1 alarm fitted aftermarket without which I'd have no theft insurance, so I presume the original security spec wasn't up to much.
