Land Rover Range Rover 4.3 LSE 4d Auto (1993/K) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Bought it for £3000, sold it for £2400 after 14 months. Cheapest 14,000 miles I've ever done.
Costs
Drinks fuel obviously. Watch out for insurance, bull bars cost ££s.

On the road
Driving
Not as unweildly as people might think. Over two tons of metal keeps all 4 wheels on the ground no matter how fast you try to corner. Can be surprisingly brisk. Offroad abilities are astounding. It's criminal to own one of these and not try it.
Performance
Suprisingly capable at motorway cruising, brisk acceleration around town and the ability to tow anything that you can hook onto it.

Living with it
Reliability
It squeaked, rattled and sometimes lost a little bit of coolant but it started first time, everytime and always went A to B without a hitch.
Image
A bit dated now, but still somehow retains a certain amount of prestige, simply because you can afford to fuel it!
Comfort
For a ten year old car it's excellent, even by today's standards. Electric memory leather seats, electric roof and air con, cruise etc.

Security and Service
Security
Only worth pinching for ram raiding. Built in alarm is fairly useless. I had to get a Cat 2 immobiliser fitted for insuarance to cover it.
Service
Land Rover's service was faultess. The car was 10 years, and still I received royal treatment.

Problems and Ownership
Problems
Engine
With 80k miles on the clock, I think it was barely run in. I'm sure it will outlast every other component on the car.
Other
Heater Matrix leaked and caused interior water damage, fault with air suspension was traced to a dry joint on a PCB. DIY repairs are very easy on this car.
