A 2.5 BMW derived turbo diesel offers a degree of economy – 27mpg verses 17mpg for the petrol units. But most have V8 power and the 4.6 is a reasonably quick car although all units are refined enough for this stately machine.
Off-road it will leave most rivals for dead. With its height adjustable, air suspension, the ride is very comfortable and also offers excellent body control. For such a big lump the handling is pretty responsive.
