Other Lexus IS (1999 - 2005) models:

  • Summary

    4 out of 5 4.0

What does this car say about you?

I think it's prestigeous and has a timeless design. There's a new model out now but I think this one still commands respect. You never see a tatty one or one being driven by a chav.

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

I think they think it's classy without being flashy. They like the comfy seats and loud stereo too.

Would you buy this car again and why?

I'd buy a Lexus again. It's more exclusive than a BMW or Audi.

What are you likely to buy next?

I think I may get the new IS, mainly because they do a diesel version now. I found this petrol one a bit too thirsty.

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    £18,500

When did you buy the car?

    January 2006

Did you get a good deal and why?

It was a Lexus approved used car, so I probably paid a bit more than I could have, but it was like a brand new car. It was absolutely spotless inside and out.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

I wanted a good quality car without having to follow the herd. The Lexus fitted the bill perfectly.

    What was the dealer like?

Lexus Cambridge was presentable, friendly and efficient. I liked their professionalism.

  • Driving it

    4 out of 5 4.0

    What's it like to drive?

It feels quite heave and could do with a bit more power. I think the fact that it’s an automatic slows it down too. I would have liked to try the 300, but not the fuel bills. On the motorway it’s very relaxing. I drive a lot and the cruise control and sat

    What's it like to park?

Parking is a doddle. The steering is very light and it’s easy to see out the back of, unlike a lot of saloon cars. My wife had no problems with it either.

  • Living with it

    5 out of 5 5.0

Have you had any problems with the car?

    Not a thing.

What's most practical about your car?

The boot is nice and wide and the back seats are easily accessible enough to fit child seats. My wife and I both liked the remote boot release on the key-fob. You can ping the boot open while walking up with bags in your hand.

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

It has a cracking stereo. I’m used to good stereos, but the Lexus system is the best I’ve heard.
