Summary
What does this car say about you?
It says I have bought a car with my sensible head on and not emotively. It says the excitement of driving is on a par with visiting the bank - pretty mundane!
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Like the look of it. Seems to hold some brand value. Seen as solid and sensible.
Would you buy this car again and why?
No way. The fuel economy is poor - averaging c.35-37mpg. Worst thing is I cannot get the driving position to be right. The steering rake does not extend enough and the top of the seat arches away too much. Headrests only go up and down not forward / back. I spend a lot of time in the car and in 6k of driving I still can't get comfortable.
What are you likely to buy next?
Mercedes. My other car is an 06 plate c-class. This I love and will soon be swapping the lexus for another Mercedes - most likely an e-class. Am also considering an A6.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£7,500
When did you buy the car?
November 2013
Did you get a good deal and why?
Yes, in very good condition and included a 12 month dealer warranty.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
For business motorway driving and as a second car. Wanted the frugal benefit of a diesel.
What was the dealer like?
Extremely helpful - best dealership experience ever (this being my 16th car). Lexus dealership service is second to none.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
It is slow off the mark, but very punchy in third and fourth gear. Goes from 30 to 80 very quickly so excellent for overtaking. Cornering is average. One thing that is VERY annoying is that sixth gear only really works if you are doing 80mph or more. This means it is useless off the motorway and also means on the motorway that the moment you brake / slow below 75mph you have to change gear. I find I am constantly going from 5 to 6 to 5th gear. Incredibly annoying and would stop me having another one because I do so much motorway driving.
What's it like to park?
Easy. Mine is fitted with parking sensors (not standard).

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
There is a minor issue with the radio getting interference if the rear heated window is on. Otherwise no issues.
What's most practical about your car?
Everything is aligned for the driver from a controls perspective (as in radio, heating, electrics). The no key entry is fantastic.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Keyless entry and starter button.
