Owner likes style and quality and does not mind paying for it.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
People are impressed with the way it looks and the quality of build. Most who ride in it do not realize it is a diesel engine.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Probably not. Not because of any issues but would like to try the six cylinder petrol model.

Lexus IS 200 six cylinder petrol model.

Did you get a good deal and why?
Reasonable part exchange price against rover 75 1,8 against Rover 75 1.8. the Lexus 220d had been on forecourt for several monthes and reduced in price several times to what I thought was a bargain price.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Less than 30000 miles on the clock. Car was purchased as good all round value for quality, comfort and performance.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
All the power you need for safe overtaking and good flexibility through the gears. 3rd and 4th gears give really good performance while 5th and 6th gears give good economy. Gear box is a little notchy but fine when driver gets used to timing the gear changes. Handles reasonably well but without to much feedback. You would have to be really ambitious to get into trouble when using the traction and anti skid mode. Brakes are first class. All in all comfortable cruiser with sufficient get up and go to give the opposition something to think about.
What's it like to park?
Light steering with good lock. Like many cars of this size not so easy to see the rear quarters.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
The car has been reliable since purchase without any problems. Brake pads and discs were renewed although not strictly necessary.
What's most practical about your car?
The car is powerful, quiet and with enough comfortable room for four adults.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
No favourite option but if I had to choose it would be the start up lights sequence, not necessary but a bit of fun. Safety is high with all round airbags.
