Lotus Elise Race Tech 2d (2002/02) Owner Review

Economy
Value
The Race Tech package is a bit pricey but worth the extra money.
Costs
Did not like paying for the parts on the first service. Although £45 (GBP) did not break the bank.

On the road
Driving
This thing just flies round roundabouts and corners. Bye bye Subaru on country roads.
Performance
Needs more power. Come on Vauxhall can fit a 2.2 engine in. How about a V8?

Living with it
Reliability
No problems as yet. There are a few squeeks when cornering but then again should not be corvering at 60 mph either.
Image
Looks astounding. If you stand dead centre of the front at about three metres you can see a smiley face and that just puts a smile on everyones' face.
Comfort
Its suprisingly comfy with the lumber support seats. Without lumber support - Ouch…

Security and Service
Security
Security is great only if you have one of the upgrade packs which gives you a cat 1 alarm. Otherwise you only get a cat 2 immobaliser.
Service
I did not like the fact you had to pay for the parts used in the first service. This is a £22,000+ (GBP) car. Come on Lotus other manufacturers offer the first service free.
