Maserati Coupe Coupe (2001-2006) boot space, practicality and safety
No Maserati has yet undergone safety testing by Euro NCAP so there is no solid data available to prove how well the Coupé would hold up in a collision. It does at least come with front and side airbags as standard although curtain bags were not available even as an option. There are no pedestrian safety devices either such as the bonnet airbags available in some newer cars.
But a barrage of electronic aids should hopefully ensure you would never need them anyway although the early cars came only with traction control and not a full stability system that can actually brake individual wheels to avoid a crash.
Again the Coupé impresses, in this case for its 315-litre boot which is marginally bigger than a Vauxhall Corsa’s and significantly more cavernous than that of the Grantursimo that has effectively taken its place in the range. It can cope with two golf bags, something a Porsche would struggle to match. Interior stowage space is good too. There is a useful full length pocket on each door and another cubby behind your elbow either open or beneath an armrest depending on model.
But only one cupholder means driver and passenger will need to like their coffee made the same way.
