Maserati Grecale Folgore verdict
Is it any good?
The Maserati Grecale Folgore is an appealing addition to the Italians’ SUV line-up. It’s impressive that such a small manufacturer is electrifying its range at such speed. And this isn’t a knee-jerk quick fix: the Folgore feels a very well developed electric car and a smart family SUV.
Our first impressions commend a highly capable crossover, whose electric transplant has improved the appeal of an already attractive high-performance luxury SUV. It’s good to drive, has a decently long range, is surprisingly frugal with its state of charge (we averaged 3.1 miles per kWh – impressive, considering the performance on offer) and drives really nicely. The fact that it’s roomy inside, with a big boot, makes it an appealing family proposition.
The only real fly in the ointment is the exceedingly high price, which we fear may prove too big an obstacle for many prospective owners. The Maserati Grecale Folgore will likely remain a rare sight on Britain’s roads so long as the price remains in six-figure, telephone number territory.
