Overview
The Quattroporte may have a glamorous sounding name, but the badge simply means ‘four door’ in Italian. However, the Maserati is much more than merely an everyday saloon. It’s exquisitely styled, utterly unique and offers storming performance along with refinement. So while it may be an alternative to cars like the Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7-Series, it is a far more individual and characterful choice.
There are now two engines available – both providing thunderous performance and a soundtrack to match, while the handling is everything you’d expect from Maserati and defies the cars sheer size and weight. The ride is a little crashy but that doesn’t detract from what is an evocative Italian saloon. In October 2008 it was facelifted with LED front and rear lights, a new grille plus interior tweaks including a revised centre console.
