Summary
What does this car say about you?
I didn't buy a Corsa or a Fiesta.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Looks good (it does).
Would you buy this car again and why?
No. It can be fun to drive and even though It sounds like I hate it, I really don't. It's just that even though I knew it wasn't refined I did expect not to have to think about the clutch, be deafened by the road noise as much and the other little niggles just annoy me.
What are you likely to buy next?
This is my first decent car so god knows when I'll have the money again, but, I would say maybe a Focus.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchised
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£6,300
When did you buy the car?
August 2012
Did you get a good deal and why?
Average. Price was OK but would have knocked them down even more if I'd realised the paintwork / bodywork was worse than I thought.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Looked good, reviews were favourable. Alternative to a Corsa.
What was the dealer like?
Not great (Polar Ford Bradford). Dropped £250 off the sticker price but paint chips and scratches were hidden with T-Cut (only spotted later). Promised to replace snapped aerial (snapped after deposit paid) but never did.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
The clutch is a real pain - needs thinking about EVERY time you move off. Road noise is very intrusive, even at 40mph, but at 60/70mph it sounds like the cabin of a 747. Very bumpy ride due to the suspension / wheels / tyres.
What's it like to park?
Easy

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Mechanic found signs of rust underneath. Doors creak (can't be fixed without new door checkers). Clutch is a bit of a nightmare - very easy to kangaroo moving off (fixed by giving it more gas but you end up having to think about it EVERY time). Remote locking often doesn't work first time.
What's most practical about your car?
Size.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Retractable door mirrors but MP£ is nice too - stereo is very good.
