Mazda 323 Fastback 1.8i GT 5d (ABS) (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Cost 430 quid in an auction 62,000 miles, bargain.
Costs
Fuel economy around the 20mpg mark is not uncommon and if you like me had no no claims bonus you will get hammered for insurance (group 14), fully comp quotes in the 1000's.

On the road
Driving
Hugs the road and takes corners brilliantly.
Performance
When I first got into this car and put my foot down the words ""wow this is quick"" came to mind. The 1.8i DOHC engine is a beauty, over 3000rpm it flies.

Living with it
Reliability
I've suffered from a dead battery and a snapped alternator belt.
Image
Sporty hatchback's will always be popular, though is starting to look a bit dated. The pop-up headlights always provide a talking point amongst friends as to whether they like them or not as no new cars are being made with them.
Comfort
Ride isn't as spine shattering as some other GTi's (i.e. the Peugeot 205 GTi) but you do feel virtually every bump. The material used to cover the seats isn't the nicest either.

Security and Service
Security
Fitted with both an immobiliser and an alarm.
Service
I haven't used this manufacturer to service.
