Mazda 323 Fastback 1.5 GXi 5d (1996/N) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Good value for money when buying used. An almost full house of equipment in the price.
Costs
Mazda servicing (at a dealer) expensive and insurance costs are higher than for equivalent cars. Average economy for this engine size.

On the road
Driving
Precise steering and a firm positive ride. Attacks corners without hitch. Engine is a bit noisy when the revs are up, although it does have a nice 'grunt'. Rearward vision is limited to a certain extent making reversing diffcult.
Performance
Lacks oomph in low gears, but packs a nice punch when the revs are up.

Living with it
Reliability
Has not given me a single problem to date. Just keeps on going.
Image
Even now, the car has appealing, sporty lines. A beauty.
Comfort
Seats are very supportive, but hard and can get irritating on a long drive. Ride is quite hard, but this is one trade-off for having great handling.

Security and Service
Security
Comes only with a factory immobiliser.
Service
Service is very good, although it does come at a price.
