Economy
Value
For the build and style its good value but the Intrigue model is quite expensive compared to a standard Gxi.
Costs
Fuel economy is very good, parts are best sourced from non-Mazda dealers like private motor factors.

On the road
Driving
You sit really low and there are very supportive, multi adjustable sports seats. Handling is excellent, steering responsive. Ride can be firm over pot holes but generally the whole drive is excellent.
Performance
For a 1.5 it performs very well. 115mph top speed on a flat road good for the 89bhp engine. With 99,000 miles on the clock the engine is still always happy to rev.

Living with it
Reliability
Very good, but now is approaching 100k this means I'm going to have to spend a bit on maintenance. Mazda's are as reliable as Lexus and Honda if not better.

This looks great. Sleek lines, this model has side and rear spoilers. Needs front fogs to look even better. Wheel arches are too big- ride height a little too high. Easily cured by 16 or 17" wheels and lowering springs. Emerald green is a great colour.
Comfort
Very comfortable, cosy and it's not one of these cars where there is acres of unnecessary headroom to spare. Seats are great and unlike the 1993-1996 Toyota Corolla it's not cramped.

No alarm or deadlocks. The newer shape 323 is more secure.
Service
Mediocre, but this is what I say about any manufacturer I've dealt with except from Lexus.

Engine
The water pump (original) wallows at idle and squeaks on the move.
Other
4x anti-roll bar drop links needed at 98,000 miles.
