Mazda 323 Fastback 1.5 LXi 5d (1997/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Couldn't complain. Managed to get a mint model for £3000, with all its extras of electric windows, mirrors and A/C seemed like an excellent choice.
Costs
Only work I've had to have done is following a crash - took a while for parts to arrive, but was not too shocked at the cost.

On the road
Driving
Nippy. Very responsive - only problem is the poor view out of back window and the noticable lack of rear disc breaks and no ABS.
Performance
Needs more oomph at lower gears and breaks could do with all being disc breaks and definitely shouldn't have skimped on the ABS.

Living with it
Reliability
No problems at all so far, touch wood.
Image
Definitely looks the beast from the front. Its low gril and angry headlights give it that mean machine look. From the rear, it's got a slightly big bum.
Comfort
Smooth and quiet. Only problem is for long journeys - the seats do tend to start to hurt your back.

Security and Service
Security
Never had anyone attempt a berak-in, but I'm glad the imobiliser is there. Could have been fitted with alarm, too...
Service
Not had dealings with them as of yet.
