Mazda 323 Fastback 1.8i Executive 5d (1998/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Relatively expensive to purchase, but price is justified.
Costs
Insurance painful (this is my first car, hence £1500 for TPTF), but fuel consumption is kind if your right foot behaves.

On the road
Driving
Enormously good at giving you a grin. Less roll than the Civic, Focus, Calton, Fiesta and Omega I have driven.
Performance
As a first car, it does very nicely. Same weight as a Clio, hence 1840cc is quite yummy.

Living with it
Reliability
88,000 miles when purchased. 4 months on and another 6000 miles on the clock, it's still absolutely fabulous, *touch wood*.
Image
It's why I choose this car, plus it's comparatively rare.
Comfort
A little hard riding, but not much more so than a big Omega.

Security and Service
Security
Nothing, but an immobiliser is undeniably stingy. No deadlock either. Tsk tsk.
Service
Only had an MOT with a Mazda main dealer, but I had left feeling happy. Prices for any parts and services are dear though.
