Summary
What does this car say about you?
It's sporty to look at not like the vectra which reminds me of Thunderbird 2 - big square and slow. This is more like Thunderbird 3, sleek, quick and takes off into space. This is the Mazda promo pic but it's EXACTLY the same as mine.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Everyone's been impressed with the lines, there's not a corner on it. The Mica paintwork really enjoys the sun as well.
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yeah sure, easy to drive, comfortable with it. Great sounds from the Bose stereo even with the lid open at 70 on the motorway.
What are you likely to buy next?
The Mazda 6 will be the first thing I look at and after I've owned a Vectra, 2 Cavaliers, 1 Chevette - sorry Vauxhall your range is out of date.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Franchise
Did you buy this car new?
Yes
What price did you pay?
£18,140
When did you buy the car?
July 2006
Did you get a good deal and why?
Good trade in for the Vectra but no great discount from the price of the Mazda. It was cheaper than the likes of a Laguna, Accord, & Volvo with the same or better equipment though
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Had an R Reg Vectra but didnt like the new model of that. Wanted a 5dr hatch with bootspace for a wheelchair in something fairly stylish. It looks quite smart & still fairly few on the roads
What was the dealer like?
Very good. Let me take one 20 miles home just to see if it would fit in the garage (tight) and it was her own personal car - that was the 2.3 sport. Went to great lengths to get the one I wanted, Velocity Red with the leather seat pack.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
What a versatile engine & box. Poodles along in traffic in 4th if you want at 20 and will pick up easily when the time comes. Takes 5th at 40 & will wind up slowly or push it to 5k revs in 3rd and really move it. Averaged 220 weekly miles and 35mpg overall.
What's it like to park?
Still can't gauge where the back end stops! Flared front arches make me think it's wider than it is as well. Can't really see the corners which makes tight car parks a bit nervy.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
After one year and its first service yesterday it's been excellent. No problems (touch wood) and on 9679 miles only cost £1,738.95 to run inc insurance, petrol & the service.
What's most practical about your car?
Leather seats are fabulous, driving position is more comfortable than anything else I've driven. Bose stereo can smash the boom box boys at the lights if need be! Boot is massive, takes the wheelchair and loads of shopping. Lots of storage spaces inside the cabin.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
In dash CD autochanger is great, aircon automatic mode is very efficient and the sunroof opens & closes very quickly.
