Mazda 6 Hatchback (2007 - 2012) 2.0 TS2 5d Owner Review

Thought I'd balance the mainly positive reviews with my experience. I bought this car based on supposed reliability but in my experience its been a real let down. The good points are the spacious interior, superb handling and large boot. However, the bad points are reliability, brake calipers regularly cease (in between annual services), needing new brake pad and discs as they wear unevenly and more recently a new caliper entirely. The ceasing brakes make them less responsive too which is dangerous. Its stranded me twice and even the main dealer cant fix the issue that keeps the engine management light on after almost £1000 spent on parts. the alloys are corroded badly, the paintwork is badly chipped and the interior has worn its miles poorly with interior wear on seats, steering wheel and gearstick. It squeaks badly too. Its been through 2 batteries in 3 years and 2 sets of rear pads in 30k miles (as well as 2 sets of fronts). Parts are expensive and hard to come by, often only being available from the main dealer. All in all, a bit of a pigs ear.
