Summary
What does this car say about you?
I know about cars. I like understated power and refinement without being a badge snob
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
Loved it. Were very impressed
Would you buy this car again and why?
Yes, incredible value for money both new and used
What are you likely to buy next?
I have since bought a 2002 Lexus IS200. Good value and luxury for half the price of the MPS (albeit sacrificing the power). Next I plan to buy a cheap car specifically to be converted for track days
-
Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£0
When did you buy the car?
September 2009
Did you get a good deal and why?
Probably the best deal I have ever got on a car. It had no tax (£405) which might have put people off, and I guess it's too rare for a dealer to want on the forecourt
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
Went to auctions and bought on impulse. Was looking for a diesel Focus!
What was the dealer like?
Went to Mazda in Redditch to get advice on what was still covered under warranty. The after sales staff were useless. Not interested. However, I got some touch up paint in a few days for £5 which I considered very reasonable

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
Effortless power on very smooth delivery. When you plant your foot it doesn't throw you back in the seat as you might expect. Decent handling. I never really thrashed it.
What's it like to park?
Rear parking sensors very useful. But the car is pretty big so not ideal in the multi-storey
-
Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Didn't have it long enough. Took it for a service where brake pads were replaced
What's most practical about your car?
Big, comfortable, four doors
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Sound system and front loading 6 disc multichanger. Liked the entire console lay out and design
