Mazda 6 Saloon (2007-2009) running costs and reliability
Miles per pound (mpp)
Fuel economy
Handsome looks, a strong reputation for quality and reasonably generous equipment levels help keep re-sale values high. You can expect the 6 to hold onto a higher proportion of its value than some of the bigger sellers like the Peugeot 407 and Renault Laguna. Fuel economy is pretty good across the range and insurance groups are competitive. The 2.2-litre diesel launched in 2009 does away with a cambelt, so will require less maintenance than the 2.0-litre that was used during 2008.
A total of 35kg has been saved over the last model, despite it being packed with more equipment. That’s good news for emission’s. – they have come down by up to 13 per cent over the previous Mazda 6.
There should be nothing to worry about here. The old Mazda6 proved itself to be one of the most reliable cars on the market – problems were few and far between. This version should build on that – there are no causes for concern.
