In their own words
This is my first Mazda and is a spacious and good looking family saloon. I have been very impressed by this base model, but do check out the specification first before you buy. If you need leather, heated and electric seats, a parking camera and a few other 'basic' features you may need to look higher up the range. And if a more sports like performance is your thing then maybe the 2.5L or a diesel (which I read is quicker) maybe a better choice for you. For me this model is looking really good. I find the sat nav easy to work, the 'basic' audio system is pretty good and a good range of high tech toys to keep me happy. It also handles well - but I'm not sure if I'm the best driver to judge this - but despite it's pretty big dimentions is easy to drive. If Mazda's reputation for reliability proves to be true I will be very happy with this car for the long term.
How reliable do you find the car?
The car is only a month old and, as it should be, totally trouble free at the moment.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
This is the base 2.0L petrol (auto) model in the range and I have been very plesently surprised by many aspects of the car. I was aware the specification was a mixed bag - lacking in some basic points like heated/electric seats and a parking camera. But there is some great technology you would not expect a base model to have. The radar controlled cruise control works great, as does the head-up display (a proper one - no platic screen) and auto dimming main beam headlights. I also have bind spot and cross traffic monitoring which is great when your reversing out of your parking space at Sainsbury's. The automatic gearbox is also better than expected, being very smooth. MPG is running in the mid 30's around town driving. My only motorway journey returned around 48mpg, but I'm still running the car in. Having covered only 600 miles the engine has not loosened up at all but even so I feel the performance will be a little lacking. However I was fully aware this was not a performance model. The car rides very smoothly, the cabin is very quiet and the boot, whilst not huge, will serve me well. Overall the 6 has exceeded my expectations even though it's very early days.About their car
