In their own words
Having owned a used 2005 2.0 litre Mazda 6 TS for over 13 years and 90000 trouble free miles I did not hesitate in purchasing another Mazda 6. I love the exterior styling, the quality of its build and the interior design and luxury, which for me is a breath of fresh air from the blandness offered by its German competitors, at a far greater price. The 2.5 petrol engine is surprisingly frugal whilst offering excellent performance considering the size of the car. Its low-end torque, mated to a 6-speed auto gearbox offers an effortless drive, which can be enhanced either by use of the sports mode or manual use of the paddles behind the steering wheel, to instantaneously downshift or upshift, without the need to move the gear lever to its manual setting.
The handling is sharp and satisfying but the ride does not always cope well at low speed over rough surfaces on its 19 inch wheels, however, on smoother surfaces it is excellent. Compared to my previous Mazda 6 I find that the engine noise inside the car, even under moderate acceleration, is a little more intrusive; this could be due to the fact that wind and tyre noise are now greatly improved and/or it may be due to the design of the exhaust manifold on the Skyactiv-G engine, being 4-2-1.
Even though the main exterior styling of the Mazda 6 has changed little since 2013, the ongoing tweaks to its styling and the inclusion of newer technology have ensured that it remains a very attractive choice.
