Mazda 626 Hatchback 1.8i LX 5d (1996/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Excellent second-hand purchase.
Costs
Branded spares very expensive, although using non-manufacturer branded parts can significantly reduce costs, e.g. brake caliper from Mazda £250, but non-Mazda reconditioned £70.

On the road
Driving
Very comfortable and smooth ride.
Performance
Good performance - easily above 35mpg. Car now has 98,000 miles on clock and still going strong.
-
Living with it
Reliability
Brake calipers and front disks getting near the end of their useful life. Nothing else so far, which is excellent for a six year old vehicle.
Image
Bit dated now.
Comfort
Extremely comfortable driving position - adjustable steering wheel helps this enormously.
-
Security and Service
Security
Would anyone steal a six year old 626!? - see image rating to answer that one. However, has an in-key security chip and immobiliser.
Service
Initially very good during warranty period - haven't needed to use them since... too costly for servicing and spares.
