Mazda MX-3 1.8i 3d (1997/P) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Got to be one of the best-looking sportsters around for the money.
Costs
Spares are pretty pricey, but anyone who buys Japanese should already know that. Petrol consumption is a complete nightmare, especially round town.

On the road
Driving
Cracking good handling, sure-footed and precise. It inspires confidence and begs to be driven hard.
Performance
V6 is a brilliant rev-happy little lump that just keeps delivering more power than I can usually use. I've had more powerful cars, but this one gives the best adrenalin rush!

Living with it
Reliability
Apart from a split air intake hose (common problem) it has been hassle-free and reliable. I'm led to believe the Japanese are good at this kind of thing.
Image
Looks as good as it drives.
Comfort
Fit for purpose and better than you might expect. Two adults and two kids do fit in without a drama.
-
Security and Service
Security
No major problems, but the lack of remote central locking and immobiliser is a real yawn.
Service
I use a local garage, so I can't comment
