Mazda MX-3 1.8i 3d (1998/R) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Superb value for money - great build quality and cheaper and better than Puma/Tigra - not too many of them on the road, so fairly exclusive.
Costs
1.8 V6 is not overly-heavy on fuel, unless you push it really hard. 30mpg should be achieveble in normal driving.

Driving
Handles very well - cornering ability beyond what you would expect. ABS system is good, but could do with TCS in the wet.
Performance
Silky smooth, brisk (rather than earth-shattering) acceleration on the V6. Very capable performer - can out accelerate rivals.

Living with it
Reliability
Absolutely no problems here - starts 1st time, every time and no mechanical gremlins to report.
Image
High-spec models look far smarter than rivals, but when you tell someone you have an MX3, the chances are, they won't know what you are talking about.
Comfort
Stiffly sprung suspension leads to bumpy ride, but that's the trade-off for handling. Superb driving position, though does take some getting used to - quite upright, but it is excellent.

Security and Service
Security
Immobiliser works well and the doors lock, but that's about it.
Service
Standard services are very cheap - major service due next time though!
