Mazda MX-30 SUV 107kW GT Sport Tech 35.5kWh 5dr Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Good: amazing design, high quality interior, comfortable, all the gadgets you could hope for, felt far higher in quality inside than my BMW 1 series.
Bad: woeful range. Specs state 124 miles, but this is good weather, flat roads, no heating on, driving super conservatively. As soon as the weather deteriorates, the roads start going uphill, or you need any of your gadgets on, the range PLUMMETS. No matter how Mazda market it, 125 miles MAX is not good enough. Especially when the fastest it will charge is about 40kwh. In the winter, that drops to 16-18. Which means if you want to go anyway more than say 80 miles away it requires a lot of planning ahead and a lot of delays. I have to go to Edinburgh once a month from Newcastle, a journey that takes 2.5 hours in an ICE car. It's taking around 4.5 hours, and that will get worse in winter. And there is little point spending all that money on a luxurious car when half of the time you use it your sat in a car park at LIDL hoping you can charge it enough before the 90 minute parking restriction ends - or worse the 45 minute restriction at Fastned.
It doesn't help that the cost of driving it has gone from between £7 to £15 for a full charge to £15 to £28 for a full charge on public networks, and now the government will be charging VED from 2025. There's no benefit to owning the car, and the complete lack of practicality outweighs any benefit.
Also, the windows rattle. It's a known issue too, but hundreds of users complain about it.
Ended up trading it back in after a year of ownership because I couldn't live with, losing a ton of money on it.
Avoid. If you must get electric, look elsewhere.
