Mazda MX-6 2.5 V6 GT 2d (1992/J) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
Only cost me £3300. 3 previous owners and full service history. No modifications.
Costs
Petrol and insurance costs quite high. Parts are expensive through dealer channels, but these can be avoided.

On the road
Driving
Very good to drive. Smooth power delivery and no problems at high speeds. Maximum speed I've reached is 140mph and it does it with no complaints. Handles deceptively well.
Performance
Not so quick of the starting line. Really comes into its own between 5 & 6000rpm.

Living with it
Reliability
Parts replaced since Sept 1999 - exhaust downpipe and mid section, clutch, CV joint, electric window motor, variable speed wiper switch.
Image
Subtle looks. Doesn't turn as many heads as my previous car (MR2), but impresses the ladies none the less!
Comfort
Very driver orientated. Comfortable position, switch gear well laid out and easy to use. Not so hot for passengers in the rear due to cramped leg space and low headroom.

Security and Service
Security
Standard security system comprises alarm and immobiliser, however for insurance purposes a minimum of a CAT2 immobiliser is needed, as standard system is not Thatcham approved. Car then has 2 seperate immobilisers and an alarm!
Service
No better or worse than others I have used. However the dealers are very expensive.
