Mazda RX-8 (2003 - 2010) (231ps) 4d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
Without a doubt, THE most unreliable car to have ever appeared on UK roads. Do not do it! Don't fall for the ridiculously low buying price. There is a reason that these cars are virtually given away. I had mine properly inspected, compression tested, all good, and yet.... 5 days after buying it, the engine blew. I lost £900 in 5 days. These cars are a ticking time bomb and low mileage and service history does not mean you will have a good one. Once the rotary seals go, that's it, new engine (£6000) or a rebuild (£3000).
Add to this the fact that tax is £570 a year and average (that's average, not urban!) MPG is .... 14mpg.
It would be doing humanity a favour if every single RX8 was collected, crushed and turned into refrigerators. The RX8 engine is fundamentally flawed. Even if your engine doesn't blow, get ready to face constant hot start problems, failure to idle and a whole host of other fun.
Truthfully, I wouldn't urge my worst enemy to buy one of these cars.
