Mazda Xedos 6 1.6i 4d (1996/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Ridiculously cheap as a private/auction buy. Not good value at a main dealer though.
Costs
1.6 has excellent fuel economy. Parts prices new (and secondhand, if you can find them) are very expensive. Push hard and the dealers will knock 10-15% off. Insurance prohibitive.

On the road
Driving
Smooth and quiet. Fab steering (although most say it's too light) and excellent feedback combined with prodigious grip.
Performance
1.6 is slow off the line. The accelerator pedal is far too heavy. Anybody know of any mods for that?

Living with it
Reliability
Built like a tank! Have had loads of Mazda 626s and 323s, but this beats them all. Only criticisms are very soft door seals and ticking tappets on ALL my previous Mazdas.
Image
Much classier than mainstream European models but very subtle.
Comfort
Better than my 626 but the seat doesn't go low enough.

Security and Service
Security
Love the immobiliser and remote central locking. But why is there no flash or beep to tell you it's locked/unlocked?
