Mazda Xedos 9 2.5i V6 4d Auto (1997/P) Owner Review

Economy
Value
Excellent value second hand, although depreciation is a bugbear. You are paying for top build quality and a lot of equipment.
Costs
Average for the class, little ever goes wrong, average fuel economy, parts I believe can be pricey.

On the road
Driving
Lovely, smooth and relaxing to drive, but not sporty and very quick unless really pushed. Steering lacks poise, but handling is good.
Performance
High-revving 2.5i V6 engine is at its best on the motorway going fast. At low speeds it is responsive only if pushed.

Living with it
Reliability
First class, not problems. 125,000 miles and not a problem, only a new battery and tyres in this time. Better than a BMW in this respect.
Image
Big alloy wheels, lowered suspension, sleek/rich styling is eye-catching and better than the Germans. So-so for kudos, however.
Comfort
Poor front passenger knee/legroom, and a fair amount of road noise at speed; smooth ride, pleasant cabin ambience, good seats, commanding driving position.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm, immobiliser, deadlocks, remote central locking. Rather obscure image is also a good protection to hide the car's hidden talents!
Service
Mazda dealer service is lacklustre to say the least. Bourne Rd Garage, Crayford is recommended.
