McLaren 765LT boot space, practicality and safety
- Similar luggage capacity to 720S
- Lack of interior storage
- Option to add door pockets etc back in
Retaining the set luggage space of the 720S means the McLaren 765LT offers 150 litres in the front boot and another 210 litres in the rear.
Things take a bit of a nose dive in the cabin however where most of the pockets and storage spaces have been replaced by the more minimalist carbonfibre transmission tunnel and door cards.
You can, if you want, option door stowage and a lockable box under your left elbow back in however, on top of the air conditioning and stereo system that has been removed for weight saving purposes.
Otherwise the 765LT is a surprisingly easy thing to live with, thanks to good views out and a lower sill than previous McLaren hypercars, which in addition to the high opening doors that also take a portion of the roof with them, means it’s reasonably easy for a tall driver to get in and out even while wearing a helmet.
Safety
Euro NCAP won’t get their hands on a 765LT for crash testing purposes so it’s very hard to say how safe the car is overall.
All we can offer is the anecdotal evidence of this car being built around a very strong carbon tub, with a traction control system that works hard to keep you pointing in the right direction, and a set of brakes that are capable of stopping you in a shockingly short distance.
