Mercedes-Benz A-Class Saloon A 250 e AMG Line Premium Plus 8G-DCT auto 4d Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I have honestly never owned such a disappointing car. It’s looks great inside and out. The tech is brilliant and generally works well save the odd glitch, but the rest of the car is hugely disappointing.
It’s quick, but the petrol engine is very noisy when pushed with an unpleasant roaring tone. It struggles to get its power down, often scrabbling at traffic lights and often picks the wrong gear when you want to accelerate. The braking is inconsistent in feel as it switches between regenerative and friction modes and is actually quite difficult to modulate. Road noise is intrusive although it settles down reasonably well at a cruise. You have to force it into top gear on the motorway as it often forgets to change up. The driving experience overall isn’t great.
There have been electrical problems with the alarm and mbux interface which have required attention, plus some trim pieces fall off the interior.
The worst aspect of the car by far is the build quality. I’ve owned a lot of cars over the years, but I’ve never had a car rattle, squeak, creak and buzz like this one. On all but the smoothest roads it’s unbearable. The noises come from the doors, dash, console, literally everywhere. The stereo makes the doors vibrate and the whole thing sounds like it’s about to fall apart. Mercedes have had it back numerous times, and had half of the interior out but to no avail. For this reason alone, I can’t wait to get rid of it and will never, ever buy a Mercedes again….
