Summary
What does this car say about you?
It is a car your granddad would own.
What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?
They think it is a granddad car too. I am 32.
Would you buy this car again and why?
I'm afraid I wouldn't. It has been extremely expensive to run, thirsty and the service and repair costs at Mercedes are astronomical. The service itself is good, but at the price, anything less would be criminal.
What are you likely to buy next?
Something cheaper to run, a diesel.

Buying experience
Type of dealer you bought from?
Didn't buy from a dealer
Did you buy this car new?
No
What price did you pay?
£14,000
When did you buy the car?
July 2004
Did you get a good deal and why?
I bought from a friend who offered me a good deal.
Is there any special reason why you bought this car?
What was the dealer like?
Although I bought privately I've always had it dealer serviced and repaired. While the service is very good, the prices are beyond belief. I have never left the dealer without being at least £500 lighter, most times £1000 or more.

Driving it
What's it like to drive?
I have found the driving experience to be distinctly average - surprisingly little power from a supercharged 2 litre engine, rolls around in corners, and the suspension is squeaky, a problem that I have repeatedly had rectified but has repeatedly gone wrong. The engine is surprisingly rough and unrefined.
What's it like to park?
This is a particular forte actually, the turning circle is excellent, so it is a doddle to park for a large-ish car.

Living with it
Have you had any problems with the car?
Unfortunately I acquired the car just after it went out of warranty. I have spent thousands repairing this car. Electrical systems, suspension, gearbox is the latest.
What's most practical about your car?
The boot space is pretty large with the rear seats down.
Favourite gadget, option or accessory?
Electric folding mirrors (an option) have been very useful
