Economy
Value
£3K for a 9 yr old 99K miler from a garage seems a lot of money but it feels and drives like a brand new car and if there are no major breakdowns then it will be a bargain. I intend to keep it for 3 - 5 years and will report back if anything nasty happens
Costs
Just bought it so we'll see. Very good on petrol though, I am getting 35mpg so far!

On the road
Driving
Notchy gearbox requires concentration, but otherwise a whisper quiet and comfortable car which corners brilliantly and with no drama. Nature of the car encourages smooth and relaxed driving which suits me fine.
Performance
Smooth and surprisingly powerful and feels very secure when cornering at speed. Brakes are magnificant.

Living with it
Reliability
Time will tell. It is a 99K 9 yr old car, but it feels and looks absolutely brand new.
Image
They seem to be driven by old men and young hoons of a very peculiar type, nevertheless I think it is a good looking car, especially in red and I am quite happy to be seen in it.
Comfort
Very quiet and smooth ride. Firm seats which I find very supportive. Total absence of squeks, rattles or mechanical noises and wind noise is very well suppressed. I feel very relaxed after a tough drive up and down the pennines, which can't be bad.

Security and Service
Security
Standard immobiliser and alarm, don't know if they are any good though.
Service
I will not go near a Merc dealer after the horror stories I have read! I am happy to stay at my good local independant garage.
