  • Economy

    Value

    3 out of 5 3.0

Holds its value, especially with waranty. Like everyone else though, make sure the front electrics windows are serviced regularly (probably once a year).

    Costs

    2 out of 5 2.0

Main dealer parts can be expensive but there are always 'Euro' optional dealers to give you a good price for pads, exhausts etc.

  • On the road

    Driving

    3 out of 5 3.0

Brilliant drive, eats up the motorways, although on this engine you might want to keep your speed between 70-80mph as you begin to hear the engine on higher speeds than this.

    Performance

    3 out of 5 3.0

On the motorway is acceptable, but don't get stuck in traffic otherwise watch your fuel gauge begin to drop! Just about ok around town, but stop start journeys can cost a bit. Can be a bit sluggish on initial takeoff.

  • Living with it

    Reliability

    5 out of 5 5.0

Starts every time, never goes wrong, just loves to be driven and taken around in. Loves the motorway, long service periods too, although I change my oil every 4,000 miles.

    Image

    4 out of 5 4.0

Looks a drib without new and updated alloys. I'd go for 18-20in to bring it up to date. There's a certain camp that feel that it looks better than the latest CLKs. It's definately in a unique class of its own.

    Comfort

    4 out of 5 4.0

Feels like your driving on a cushion of air. Can be a bit rumbly on 18-20inch wheels.

  • Security and Service

    Security

    1 out of 5 1.0

This is the second one I've had, the first being nicked 4 days after I'd bought it. Apparently they sell like hot cakes on the African markets (in more demand than the CLKs over there) possibly being stolen to order. Get a Cat 1 alarm/immobiliser/tracker.

  • Problems and Ownership

    Problems

    Engine

Engine ticks along ok, makes you wonder if it'll ever need work.

    Other

Electric windows can be a pain when they get stiff. Either lubricate with silicone spray (what you use to shine your vinyl dashboard) or get them serviced at a specialist.

Did you buy the car new?

Would you buy the same model again?

    Yes
