Having now read articles on the rarer (only 2200 examples made world-wide, apparently) 367 bhp CL600, I sometimes wish I had opted for that model. However, this CL500 is just as beautiful and costs less to service, repair and insure in Australia.
The feeling of being seen in this silver uber-coupe in traffic and on Club days (when she has just been professionally cleaned) is still a thrill.
How reliable do you find the car?
Am changing the oil every 5000 miles and fuel/air/air con filters needed renewing. I can live with the few minor paint blemishes.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
After getting used to the controls, which the thick handbook expanded on, it has been very comfortable to travel in and surprisingly frugal on the highway. A true 29 mpg from a 5 litre V8 is outstanding to me. Just love the shape of the back window glass and "no B pillar" side window line. The Brilliant Silver contrasts well with the black leather and burr walnut inserts.About their car
