This model is a flawed gem. The gear box and engine are brilliant. The balance of economy and performance is superb but there is a lack of deep thought & care with implementing this project. Not confident about brake longevity before judder sets in. Diamond cut wheels corroded in 2 years. Wheel arch surrounds look like they’ve been shot blasted after 30k miles. No spare wheel on this very vulnerable car and the dealer didn’t even supply a pump and gunge set until I demanded ithem as they were OE items they neglected to supply and initially requested an extra payment. The cabin room is limited for rear seat passengers but great in the front with the chairs pushed back. The Brooklands AMG experience after buying a new one was memorably excellent though they were pretty disorganised when we arrived at the appointed time. I have a 95k mile Toyota just beginning to show stone chips and wheel corrosion. The ergonomics are so much better than the Merc in so many ways, especially the touch screen controls & 1 touch button for seat memory. MB in the dark ages with their screen display and sat nav manipulation.
How reliable do you find the car?
The car seems hard on tyres but not in the normal wear sense.. Original Dunlop’s peeled. I have since had 2 other rear tyres delaminate. 3 sets of front discs and pads in 40 k miles. The car is reliable but fragile in many ways. Ground clearance is poor, the low profile tyres are not a good idea on Highland roads. I would avoid driving in the dark on our pot holed carriage ways. The front wheel arch liners are dislodged by deep puddles. Blistering acceleration and braking. Brilliant steering. Harsh suspension. Mercedes Care package poor value and superficial. Had to take the car to a specialist to sort out seized brakes a month after a dealer annual service.About their car
