Mercedes-Benz CLK Cabriolet (2003 - 2009) 350 Sport 2d Tip Auto Owner Review
Want to know everything there is to know about this car?
In their own words
I bought this car as I've always liked the shape, and I am pleased I did; a modern classic! I originally wanted a 500 sport in black but they were difficult to find so I bought the 350 sport which only has approx 30 less hp. I only use the car occasionally and it replaced a DB9 which I had owned for 4 years and was costing a lot relative to the miles I did in it. I am very pleased with the car, especially the way it drives and feels "planted" on the road. Performance is good and I've timed 0-60 at 6.4 seconds, with the important 50-90 being respectably quick. It is a true four seater convertible. If you want to drive quickly with the top down for any length of time you will probably want to buy a wind protector as it can get very blustery! The M272 350 V6 is a really smooth engine, but if you're buying a pre-08 model make sure you buy one that has either had the balancer shaft replaced or doesn't need it doing (check the engine serial number), otherwise it will need doing and it's an engine-out job!
How reliable do you find the car?
This is an old car now, and I expected there to be the odd thing that needed attention. I spent a couple of thousand replacing all fluids, filters, plugs and various parts when I bought it to ensure it is going to last.Does the car do everything you expected it to do?
Drives really well. 3.5 petrol engine very smooth with plenty of power. Strangely I actually prefer driving it to the Aston Martin DB9 I had before, although clearly it's a different type of car. Factory fitted Harmon Kardon sound system is good.About their car
